For you health conscious eaters and athletes who want to eat and train with intent, Trifecta Nutrition was created for you. In fact, after a lot of trial and tasting, we’d say it’s one of the best complete meals delivered.
According to Trifecta Nutrition’s founders, siblings Greg and Elizabeth Connelly, the idea for Trifecta Nutrition first came about when they each realized that they were tired of the food options out there for busy professionals.
Greg Connelly has said that he was frustrated with the time and effort effective meal planning took each week, while Elizabeth began noticing how expensive the frozen meal kits out there tended to be.
That’s why the team behind Trifecta Nutrition promises customers that they can “eat like they train” — which makes it perfect for those who frequently hit the gym and have serious exercise goals.
Trifecta Nutrition is particularly perfect for those on paleo diets and those looking for organic and pesticide-free food. Trifecta paleo meals have been praised for how they balance flavor while still adhering to the diet’s guidelines. We’re talking a diet based on quality ingredients and whole foods. Another thing that makes the company unique is the fact that they take a holistic approach to food to dieting and wellness.
“Achieving a healthy body can transform all areas of your life,” they note on the Trifecta Nutrition website. For them, the key to a well-balanced life and a healthy body requires customers to work on having their minds, bodies and social relationships work together in a harmonious balance.
We know that many readers will also appreciate that Trifecta Nutrition fully acknowledges how hard it is to stick to a diet that is too restrictive or boring. That’s why its team of chefs switches up its menu every week… EVERY week, y’all!
This guarantees that you will receive something new and different regularly. As the company’s mission statement promises, “Our mission is to remove the possibility for diet failure by delivering fresh, healthy meals directly to your door.” This is truly fitness food! How Trifecta Nutrition Works
Trifecta Nutrition is a great choice for diners who want to stick to strict meal regimen but don’t necessarily have the time to prepare and cook their own meals every day.
Unlike many other paleo and diet meal kit plans out there, all Trifecta Nutrition meals arrive fresh, not frozen and can be easily heated. All of Trifecta Nutrition’s meals are both soy and gluten-free.
In addition to signing up for a Trifecta Nutrition meal plan, shoppers also have the option of ordering from a select menu of meals a la carte.
We appreciated that Trifecta Nutrition is also a commitment free service. Subscribers can cancel their plans at any time and skipping a week or two is also quite easy.
Another great thing about Trifecta Nutrition is that its commitment to the environment and providing an eco-friendly lifestyle is not just limited to the food. All of the company’s packaging is recyclable and designed to create the least amount of waste possible.
What You Can Expect From Your Meal
There’s a reason Trifecta Nutrition meals and diet plans are frequently included on lists of best plans for athletes and vegetarians.
Your meals will be prepared by Trifecta Nutrition’s team of chefs under the guidance of dietitians and nutritionists. One of the best things about Trifecta Nutrition is that they realize that those on diet plans frequently fail to stick to their plans because of the repetitiveness and overall sameness of the meals and flavors provided.
To that end, the company offers a variety of different tailored plans that cater to those looking for meals that are:
- Paleo: All items on the Paleo menu are completely sugar and grain free and highlight sustainable meats and fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Clean Eating: “Clean” foods in this case are those that have been as unaltered from their natural state as possible. Expect meals that are filled with whole grains, vegetables and lean proteins.
- Vegetarian: This classic vegetarian diet is guaranteed to be macro-balanced by Trifecta Nutrition’s team of nutritionists while also containing lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Vegan: The Trifecta Nutrition chefs promise a vegan meal plan that’s both heart healthy and fiber-rich. Click here to read more.
- Classic: With the classic meal plan, diners can expect filling meals that always consist of 4 oz of meat or fish, 4 oz of carbs and 4 oz of vegetables.
Trifecta Nutrition prides itself on being the largest organic meal kit company in the United States. As a result of that commitment, each meal you order will be prepared from scratch just for you and will contain dishes that are made only grass-fed meats, organic ingredients and seafood that is wild caught.
Because your meals will arrive fresh, it is recommended that you eat all of your food within a week of receiving your package. Trifecta Nutrition’s non vegetarian and vegan plans are heavy on fresh meat and poultry and do not freeze particularly well. (We do not recommend trying to freeze the steaks for example, because the results have been mixed.)
Your food will arrive in individual, vacuum sealed containers packed into an insulated box packed with enough dry ice to will keep your meals cold for several hours. Each item will have a label listing its nutritional information, so you’ll never be kept guessing about what exactly you’re eating or how many calories it contains.
Once you open your package, you should refrigerate your meals as soon as possible.
Here are some of the Trifecta Nutrition meals that we had the chance to try and enjoy. Because this is a plan for serious fitness geeks and those that are fans of clean and paleo meals, the protein is always front and center with every meal that we sampled.
Chicken Tenders, Brown Rice, Mixed Vegetables Meal: These organic free range chicken tenders aren’t seasoned — instead they are lightly seasoned and accompanied by a mixed vegetable medley that consists of a blend of Broccoli, Carrots, and Zucchini.
- Beef Patty with Sweet Potato and Mixed Veggies: We liked how simple and classic this meal was.
- Cilantro-Chimichurri Turkey Patty with Squash and Green Beans: The hint of spice the chimichurri provided was a welcome kick to this dish.
- Basa, Brown Rice, Mixed Vegetables Meal: Each aspect of this meal is baked and lightly seasoned. While your meal comes in one container, nothing is mixed together, so you can do that to your liking.
- Egg Scramble with Sausage and Potato Breakfast: This classic breakfast option centers on an organic egg scramble and two 2 ounce chicken sausages. The morning meal gets another dose of protein through the accompanying diced baked sweet potato.
Egg dishes like scrambles and frittatas are a big part of Trifecta Nutrition’s breakfast menu, so those who aren’t egg fans should be aware of that when selecting whether or not they wish to include breakfast options as part of their subscription plans. Other breakfast dishes include chia puddings and granola offerings.
As for those interested in ordering a la carte, Trifecta Nutrition’s a la carte menu is unique in that it literally allows customers to build their own meals. It’s up to you to pick the proteins, carbs and side dishes you’d like to go together for each of your meals. In addition to the beef, chicken and salmon options that you can find elsewhere. Trifecta Nutrition also offers selections like venison, elk and bison.
Trifecta Nutrition delivers to all 50 states.
Your Trifecta Nutrition package will arrive at your door via FedEx once a week, typically on Fridays. In order to ensure that you receive your order in a timely fashion, the company recommends that that you put your order in by the end of the Friday of the previous week.
There were two things we lived in particular about ordering through Trifecta Nutrition. The first is that there is no minimum delivery order, so we did not have to fill our online carts with food we were not sure we wanted when we ordered a la carte.
Secondly, we can’t express how happy we were to learn that shipping is always free with Trifecta Nutrition orders. This was a big relief because other meal kit services frequently require customers to pay for shipping in addition to the costs of their meals.
Depending on the plan and number of Trifecta meals per day you choose to have delivered, meal plans are priced at $108.43 to $119.00 a week to start.
The Classic meal plan is the most expensive of all of the Trifecta Nutrition offerings, which should not be a surprise given the fact that the plan is centered heavily on various organic meats.
Food for Thought
Trifecta Nutrition’s dedication to organic ingredients and protein-rich meals is evident in everything that they do. It is no wonder that the company’s selection of Trifecta meals have quickly become the favorite choice of bodybuilders, ultra marathoners and other serious athletes across the United States. In fact, the company recently announced a partnership with the UFC, which is further proof that some of the nation’s top athletes are finding Trifecta’s approach to food a good fit for their needs.
Because Trifecta Nutrition follows strict guidelines when it comes to the content of their meals in order to make them as protein rich and paleo friendly as possible, there isn’t a ton of flexibility when it comes to customizing your meal plan. (The chefs have to stick to the tried and true formulas Trifecta paleo meals require, after all!) However, customers can fill in the foods they dislike eating or are allergic to and the chefs will work with those guidelines accordingly. You should be aware that too many ingredient substitutions may lead to repeats of dishes in a single week’s order.
Spices and seasoning also aren’t a huge part of the Trifecta Nutrition lifestyle, so you should be prepared to season your food to your tastes if necessary. (Obviously while doing so you should work to avoid adding any sodium or sugar to your meals, but spices are just fin.
Customers should also be aware that sometimes the size and macro count of each portion can inexplicably vary. This can which can be inconvenient for those on very strict diet plans.
One of the nicest things about Trifecta meals are that they are designed for someone who is highly active. This means that if you are hitting the gym or following a strict training regime regularly, you will see results and feel energized while doing so. You never have to worry about consuming extra calories or any simple sugars, which obviously will make reaching your fitness goals easier.
Trifecta Nutrition’s portions are also a nice size. We appreciated that we never had to worry about anything being too small for a single meal. (This was especially when we compared Trifecta Nutrition’s portions to other meal kits that tend to be on the skimpier side when it comes to serving sizes.) We also liked that customers can easily add an additional entree to their meal plans for those interested in sharing a Trifecta Nutrition subscription with a partner or family member.
We also could instantly see why Trifecta Nutrition would be particularly appealing to vegetarians and vegans. Our experiences reviewing various meal kits have taught us that there often isn’t a lot out there when it comes to vegetarian options for meal kit shoppers (and that’s even more the case when it comes to vegan meals.) Trifecta Nutrition fills in a much needed gap when it comes to finding easy to heat meals that are tasty and free from animal products.
How to Order
Ordering from Trifecta Nutrition is simple.
First select the meal plan that works for you. (you have the choice between the Keto, Paleo, Classic, Vegan, Vegetarian or Clean).
The next step is to choose how many meals you want per day. Do you want breakfast, lunch and dinner for everyday you sign up for? Or would you prefer just lunch and dinner entrees in your order?
After you’ve made that decision, you’ll be asked whether you’d want five days worth of food or seven. Next, you’ll be prompted to list any allergies of food restrictions that you want the chefs to be aware of.
Finally, you’ll be asked to submit your payment and shipping information. Customers can choose to have their boxes delivered once a week, every other week or once a month.
Those interested in a la carte options will be instructed to build their own meals by selecting their proteins and sides accordingly. We liked how the Trifecta Nutrition site easily lead customers through this process.
