What You Can Expect From Your Meal

Sunbasket offers healthy meal delivery and affordable meal delivery.

Their definition of healthy is to follow the latest scientific-based nutrition recommendations, have recipes approved by in-house dietitians, and align with USDA dietary guidelines.

Recipes cook you meals containing 500-800 calories per meal on average.

Regardless of the type of meal you choose, you'll end up with your plate full of high-quality proteins, whole grains, organic ingredients, and healthy fats, without added sugars or processed foods.

Curated Selection of Ingredients

Sunbasket takes high quality beyond organic. Ingredients are hand-picked, and meats and seafood are responsibly sourced. They also offer their own house-made spice blends and sauces, to – ehm – spice things up.

Naturally, this means that Sunbasket doesn't work with just anyone. Farmers and ranchers are carefully selected so that you can be sure to support the best – both when it comes to quality and responsibility! Meats are free from hormones and antibiotics, and seafood is wild-caught.

Fresher than the Supermarket!

Since the ingredients from this meal kit delivery service come directly to your door, without collecting dust in the supermarket, they're often fresher than what you can find in your grocery store.

To preserve freshness, store the ingredients in your fridge as soon as you get home. Seafood or shellfish should be consumed within 3 days, and meat and poultry within 5 days.

Sunbasket recommends cooking recipes with delicate greens and fresh mushrooms within 5 days after receiving your delivery.

Recipes Developed by Award-Winning Chef!

The recipes in the Sunbasket meal kits are crafted by award-winning chef Justine Kelly, and most meals take less than 30 minutes to prepare. Ingredients are pre-measured so that you can see your Sunbasket kit go from cardboard box to smoking hot dinner on the table in no time!

What About Allergies?

Sunbasket does offer a gluten-free menu (making it one of the best gluten-free meal delivery services to us), but since ingredients are handled in facilities with gluten, there's still the risk of cross-contamination. Thus, for those with celiac disease, it's better not to order from Sunbasket.

The recipes are packed in a kitchen containing other food allergens as well, so if you have a severe allergy, consult your doctor or customer service before ordering.

Note that at least one recipe per week is certified by the American Heart Association®’s Heart-Check Recipe Certification Program. This is a program providing guidelines for a heart-healthy diet. To find these recipes, look for the Healthy Heart-Check symbol on the menu page.

Sample Meals

The cool thing about Sunbasket is that you can choose freely from the different menus to tailor a box for your taste buds – and change as often as you fancy.

The different meal categories are:

Chef's Choice

Where seasonal and organic produce of premium quality come together with unique, house-made sauces for a sensational twist on classic dishes.

Example dish:

- Pork chops with pear mostarda and wilted kale

Back to the roots with paleo food delivery! This menu offers more clean food such as meat and veggies, and less carbs. Here, you'll find filling, nutrition-packed recipes that are dairy-free, soy-free, and with no gluten, grains, and corn.

Example dish:

- Steaks and romesco with baby broccoli, summer squash, and almonds

No gluten, lots of gusto! These recipes prove that skipping gluten doesn't mean missing out. Fresh vegetables, top-quality meats and seafood, and the chef's selection of gluten-free alternatives make for a compelling menu, whether or not your system can digest gluten.

Example dish:

- Cashew-lime glazed chicken with bok choy and orange salsa

Lean & Clean

The ideal meal type for those who want lots of flavor but less fat. Meals have a maximum of 550 calories per serving, zero gluten and dairy, and no added sugar. Clean proteins and fibers make that fulfilling feeling last for longer.

Example dish:

- Italian sausages with spicy green harissa and vegetable skewers

Vibrant, rainbow-colored veggies marry organic eggs and responsibly sourced dairy for meals making both you and the animals happy. Feeling light yet full from high-vibe organic vegetables is something that can't be described – it must be experienced!

Example dish:

- Spicy Jamaican black bean tostadas with sweet peppers and mango slaw

Get the salty contrast of sustainably sourced seafood and fish together with farm-fresh, vibrant veggies in season.

Example dish:

- Seared salmon with chimichurri and Provençal vegetables

Healthy never tasted this good! Whole grains and lean meats with the seducing background of olive oil and garlic that can make a Monday feel like a Friday. Fresh herbs and healthy fats seal the deal in this one of our most popular categories. Buon appetito!

Example dish:

- Fresh whole wheat penne with Sicilian caponata sauce

Quick & Easy

For people with a busy lifestyle, or those days when you're in a rush, but don't wanna compromise with taste and quality. Less fuss, more flavor – and no risk of stopping at the fast-food venue on your way home!

Example dish:

- Quick Quinoa Meal, Artichoke and Roasted Pepper

Skip the planning, grocery shopping, and guesswork by getting recipes designed to manage diabetes in a delicious way. See where the service ranks on our list of meal services with diabetic meal plans.

Example dish:

- Tex-Mex chicken salad with black beans and honey-lime vinaigrette

Your box comes with sustainable packaging that is recyclable and compostable. Things such as paper bags and plastic materials can be recycled locally.

On their website, you can find upcycling ideas, such as how to turn the insulation into lots of creative things like pet beds!

Oh, and there's no need to be at home since the delivery requires no signature. The packaging is engineered to keep the meal kits fresh for longer.

Deliveries are scheduled during the first four days of the week. You can currently not choose which day you'll receive your box – it depends on when the meal delivery service delivers in your area.

Note that Sunbasket does not deliver to AK, HI, and parts of MT, NM, and ND.
