Looking for Paleo meals that not only meet Paleo specifications but also taste delicious and are created by an esteemed chef? This delivery program may just be your (sugar-free) jam and is truly one the best organic meal delivery services out there.
The Pete of the company’s name is Pete Servold, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef. Servold is the author of the cookbook “Paleo by Season” and co-founded his company with his wife Sarah after he became interested in CrossFit and began looking into ways he could create meals that supported Pete’s Paleo weight loss while also being delicious.
Because everything on the menu is completely Paleo, there is never any gluten, dairy or soy in any of the company’s dishes.
Instead, customers can expect meals composed of organic produce and grass-fed meats that are cooked the same week your food is delivered.
We appreciated that Pete’s Paleo Meals are catered to customers who would love to begin eating healthier, but are unsure about how to go about doing so.
The company knows you are a busy professional and that’s why it takes care of shopping, cooking and meal planning for you.
How Pete’s Paleo Meals Works
All of your Pete’s Paleo meals are cooked and shipped fresh and are never frozen.
The menu changes weekly, which means that customers can expect a variety of dishes over the course of their subscription plan.
Customers can either order a meal bundle or select one of the meal plans the company has on offer. The company does not have an a la carte option.
What You Can Expect From Your Meal
Pete’s Paleo Meals are geared towards a wide swath of people interested in healthier diets. These customers include CrossFit enthusiasts, working professionals, new moms, and/or those looking to really kick start their caveman diet (another name for Paleo, also referred to as the hunter-gatherer diet as well!) Part of the appeal of Pete’s Paleo Meals is the simplicity of the ordering process and the food on the menu.
Each weekly menu contains 10 different entrees plus 20 different vegetables that serve as side dishes.
Kale plays a big role in many of Pete’s Paleo Meals side dishes, but customers can also be assured that they will get plenty of other greens and vegetables over the course of their subscription.
Pete’s Paleo Meals is particularly appealing to busy working families because of its weekly Family Plan, which serves up 5 generously-sized meals that can feed four people for each night of the working week.
Aside from the Family Plan, customers can also choose from the following meal plans:
- The traditional plan, which allows users to select whether they would like 5, 10 or 14 meals a week.
- Garlic Lamb Shoulder with Mashed Turnips and Roasted Broccoli
We also liked how customizable Pete’s Paleo Meals can be. While no substitutions or specialized requests are permitted for those who pick between the two meal plans, those who would prefer more specialized meals will love the aptly titled “Eat What You Love” plan. This option is particularly great for those on the following diets or food restrictions:
- A ketogenic diet, which is high in fats and low-carb
- A Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet, which is an anti-inflammation diet that avoids eggs and foods like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, nuts and seeds.
- A low FODMAPS diet
Additionally, Pete’s Paleo Meals takes pride in the fact that it’s menu is seasonal and varies according to what the farmers they are working with have available. “Not only does our menu change on a weekly basis with the seasons, but we change that menu based on what our farmers grow & harvest out of the ground that very week we cook it,” the company’s website promises. (Customers should note that there is no breakfast menu, but there are plenty of entrees that work for lunch and dinner.)
For those who would prefer a package of bundled meals each week, Pete’s Paleo meals offers several options in which customers can receive bundles of either 3, 5, 6 or 10 meals. To check out those choices, head here.
All of your meals can be either heated in the microwave or sauteed over a stovetop. While the company says sauteeing will ensure the best results, microwaving is quicker (and your meals will still taste pretty good and heating will only take 1-2 minutes!)
Each of your meals will come with detailed heating instructions and those who choose to use their stovetop may occasionally have to add stock, bacon fat, butter, ghee, or oil to the pan before heating their meals.
Because your meals are packaged in vacuum-sealed bags, you can easily freeze anything that you are not able to eat right away. Your meals are good to eat for two months after you first freeze them. After you thaw them, you can just heat them up as the usual.
Orders must be in by Monday at midnight PST in order to be delivered that week.
Here are some of the meals we got to try from the Pete’s Paleo Meals menu.

- Tomatillo Beef Chili with Sautéed Kale and Paprika Rutabaga
- Braised Pork Butt with Rainbow Carrots and Braised Black Pepper Fennel
- Garlic Lamb Shoulder with Mashed Turnips and Roasted Broccoli
We appreciated that Pete’s Paleo Meals staff has worked to ensure that following a Paleo diet does not mean that customers will receive food that is bland or boring. The menu choices were creative, flavorful and different.
Pete’s Paleo Meals deliver nationwide, including to Alaska and Hawaii.
Meals are shipped out of the company’s facility each Tuesday and your package will arrive via FedEx within 1-2 days, depending on your location.
Shipping fees are not included with your original order, so budget accordingly. However, those who choose to order a meal bundle will get free shipping as part of their order.
Each box contains your individually packed meals and insulated biodegradable liners and gel packs to ensure that your meals arrive at your door still cold. Your food should be placed in your refrigerator soon after you open your box.
While we loved the creativity and flavor of every Pete’s Paleo Meals entree that we tried, we should note that the company’s meals are pretty expensive, especially compared to the other meal kit options out there. But we and fans of the service thought the freshness and tastiness of the meals made it worth signing up for a subscription.
The current pricing for Pete’s Paleo Meals subscriptions are as follows.
- 5 meals per week costs $123 a week
- 10 meals per week costs $189 a week
- 14 meals per week costs $249 a week
- The Family Plan costs $324 a week for 5 meals of 4 servings each
- The Vegetarian plan costs $129 a week for 30 packed side dishes.
Food for Thought
Our experience with Pete’s Paleo Meals was overall really great!
We enjoyed the food and the variety the menu provided and the ease of the heating process.
Pete’s Paleo reviews are generally positive and customers seem to appreciate how flavorful the meals are and how the meal plans help users ease into a dietary change. The meals look and taste as if they were prepared by a professional chef, which is always appreciated.
Paleo reviews also raved about the company’s bacon in particular, which shouldn’t be surprising because it has quickly become one of the company’s signature dishes. It is definitely worth trying if you eat pork (the company allows you to order pork-free meals if you don’t).

Brunch isn’t brunch without #bacon! 🥓 The commercial bacon sold in the grocery stores that you once couldn’t imagine Saturday morning without, will be a distant memory after you have our bacon. Pete’s Paleo bacon is the meatiest, most supple, melt-in-your-mouth bacon you’ll ever have. It’s a game-changer.
We also liked that the company’s menu is seasonal and reflects the moods and flavors of each of the four seasons. Customers can actually view each of the four seasonal menus here.
However, the company’s prices don’t make it the most realistic option for most customers. It remains a great choice for those who know that they have busy weeks ahead or want to try something new as they work towards their weightloss goals.
