At a time when “farm fresh” and “organic” are two of the buzziest words out there in the world of meal delivery programs, Daily Harvest stands out.
The company prides itself on its “delicious superfood eats” which can be heated and served in just seconds. Daily Harvest founder Rachel Drori says she was inspired to create the company in order to “real, unprocessed, unrefined foods in the most convenient format possible: frozen.”
Like many meal kit startup founders, Drori says she was inspired to create Daily Harvest to create something for customers who yearned for healthy meals but did not have the time to prepare them.
The smoothies, parfaits and soups on the Daily Harvest menu were an instant hit and the company is now backed by superstars including Gwyneth Paltrow and Serena Williams.
While many meal kit brands stress that their meals are never frozen, Drori writes on her company’s website that there is a very good reason Daily Harvest focuses on creating quality frozen meals.
“Freezing fruits and vegetables within hours of being harvested retains nutrients and locks in freshness. It’s like hitting pause on nature.” the site notes.
Additionally, everything on the Daily Harvest menu is completely plant-based and vegan.

How Daily Harvest Works
Daily Harvest stands out in the world of meal kits because everything they create is either a smoothie, a soup or a parfait and packed with such “superfoods” like chia seeds, turmeric, dark chocolate and flax seeds.
Customers interested in Daily Harvest have the option of picking either a weekly box (in which you receive 6, 9, 12 or 24 Daily Harvest cups) or a monthly box which contains 24 cups that you receive at once.
Each of your Daily Harvest products will arrive in individual cups. Your package will also contain enough dry ice to ensure your cups will arrive at your door completely frozen. (You should then place them in your freezer once you’ve opened your package.)
What You Can Expect From Your Meal
When you subscribe to Daily Harvest, all of your Daily Harvest cups will arrive pre-portioned with instructions on whether the contents of your cups need to be blended, soaked or heated up accordingly.
The Daily Harvest menu also has a section devoted to ‘Harvest Bowls’ which are bowls built around ingredients like cauliflower rice, brussel sprouts, and butternut squash.
Additionally, the menu also includes a small selection of oat bowls, chia bowls and several single serve pod lattes that you can add to the box that you personally curate for yourself.
Prepping Daily Harvest’s smoothies only require customers to add milk of their choice and blend.
The company’s overnight oats merely need to be soaked in milk overnight and prepared the next day. As for any soups and bowls in your box, all that is required is that you add water and heat according to the directions on your package.
Daily Harvest is a completely subscription-based company so it is not possible to order any cups a la carte. Daily Harvest promo codes are easy to access though, so that–combined with the fact that there is no commitment with the service– makes the company worth a try.
Daily Harvest has numerous delicious smoothies to choose from. Daily Harvest soup, it should be said, are equally flavorful and can be heated in minutes.
Here are other things you may find on their menu:
- Tomato + Bell Pepper Soup: The Daily Harvest take on the classic bowl of tomato soup features fresh tomatoes, red bell peppers and a surprising twist with the addition of peaches.
- Broccoli + Cheeze Harvest Bowl: The Daily Harvest website promises that this dish tastes like broccoli and cheese sauce and we were pleasantly surprised to find that this was true. The “cheeze” in this dish is composed of sweet potato, bell pepper, and nutritional yeast for “a Parmesan-like umami.”
- Mushroom + Miso Soup: We liked the sharpness of the miso broth and fact that this soup is loaded with mushrooms and other veggies.
Daily Harvest reportedly delivers to 95 percent of the continental United States. In order to see if Daily Harvest delivers to your neighborhood, you can simply enter your zip code into the company’s site.
It is easy to modify the context of your box, skip a shipment or change the details of your plan up until 6pm on the Saturday before your package is scheduled to be shipped.
As for how to cancel Daily Harvest, you can do so until the Saturday before your next box will be delivered.
Your package will either be delivered through FedEx or OnTrac depending on your location. The company will send you a tracking number that will allow you to follow the progress of your package.
Your Daily Harvest cost will depend on the number of cups you choose to get in each of your boxes. The weekly subscriptions are currently priced as follows:
- 6 cups for $47.94 a week
- 9 cups for $69.75 a week
- 12 cups for $89.88 a week
- 24 cups for $143.79 a week
Customers also have the option of receiving a monthly box of 24 cups for $143.79 a week. We found the Daily Harvest price reasonable for the freshness of the products and the easy of ordering and prepping our cups.
Food for Thought
We’re fans of Daily Harvest, but real talk, we prefer Splendid Spoon. It’s more convenient in that it arrives ready-to-drink. Their smoothies are also larger and kept us more satiated.
