Bodybuilding is a pursuit that requires a serious focus on diet as much as it does on your workout routine.
The thing is – we bodybuilders still want to be able to order food from an app when we want a treat or simply don’t have the time to prepare a healthy meal!
In this article, I will show you what I believe are the best body-building meal delivery services on the market.
I had to think about what would be important for bodybuilders like you and me and in this article, we’ll cover:
- pricing
- variety
- quality
- customer reviews
And most importantly, my recommendations for the best bodybuilding meal delivery services in 2023!
How We Selected the Best Bodybuilding Meal Delivery Services
Here are the criteria I follow to pick the best bodybuilding meal delivery service.
Pricing
This one speaks for itself. The number one stress that adults in the US cite is money!
When you pay for these meal delivery services you’re paying for ease, simplicity, a good diet, and good food.
So, while the prices might come across as a little affronting at first, it’s often highly worth it if you can afford it. You want to make sure you’re making the most of your money and putting the best quality food into your body.
Variety
There are so many dietary requirements and choices coming to the forefront these days that I almost consider it lazy when a food provider doesn’t give you all their nutritional information upfront.
They are cutting down their customer base by not making some easy adjustments and providing extensive information!
My top two choices, Trifecta Nutrition and Meal Pro, offer so much variety when it comes to dietaries that they easily made it into the top two.
When compared to others, they also have a wide range of food to keep your diet varied and you enjoying your meals.
Quality
Quality is always more important than quantity.
There are many health benefits to eating ethically- sourced and organic food and that’s something that a lot of bodybuilders, including myself, don’t want to compromise on.
Customer Reviews
Customer reviews are absolutely crucial for any business or for any consumers wanting to make sure they’re making the most of their money.
A customer talking about their experience with you is worth ten times what you write or say about yourself!
In making my decision on the Best Body Building Meal Delivery Services, customer experience was a top priority for analysis.
Best Bodybuilding Meal Delivery Services
Best Overall: Trifecta Nutrition
Most Customizable Plan: MealPro
Most Responsible with Protein Sourcing: Pete’s Paleo

Most Paleo Consciousness: Paleo Power Meals
Top Bodybuilding Meal Prep Delivery Services in the Market
I examined a number of bodybuilding food delivery services on the market to determine which meet the requirements set out.
I analyzed them on their pricing, variety, quality, and customer reviews, and in this section, I provide a comprehensive breakdown of all six to help you determine which one might work for you:
1. Trifecta Nutrition (Editor's Choice)
- Best Match For: Fitness nuts looking for sustainable meal delivery with perfectly balanced ready-made meals.
- Commitment Level: Subscription
- Availability: Everywhere in the US
- Value: $90.93-$119.20/week
- Type: Fully prepared fresh meals (heat and eat)
Trifecta Nutrition offers a personal approach to the bodybuilding diet by providing six different plan options intended to produce different results and tastes.
Read my full review of Trifecta Nutrition for details.
As a customer, I can confidently say that Trifecta offers an excellent meal program. Their use of natural ingredients is impressive, but what truly sets them apart is their completely organic menu.
The fact that a chef personally curates five of the plans I thought was a nice touch, and the option to completely customize your order is a great feature as well.
I was pleased to find that all ingredients are 100% organic and certified by the USDA. This includes locally sourced vegetables and sustainable-sourced proteins.
All seafood is wild-caught, and meats are grass-fed, which statistically have lower fat content.
Additionally, all food products are gluten, dairy, and soy-free, incorporating sustainable practices into high-protein meals.
One of the things I appreciated about Trifecta’s meals is that they never send bodybuilding frozen meals.
All meals arrive vacuum-sealed in coolers and last two weeks in the fridge.
This means I’ll never have to put future meals in the freezer for later, and I can always enjoy the great taste of these dishes no matter the date.
More than most meal delivery services, Trifecta offers incredibly eclectic dishes with unique ingredients.
You can expect a variety of spices, blends, and toppings on these dishes that are all organic, gluten-free, and dairy free. I found these high-quality ingredients made the meals really enjoyable.
It’s remarkable how much Trifecta is able to prepare that falls under their dietary criteria. I was amazed at all the foods I could eat while on this plan, and I didn’t miss the food groups I could no longer enjoy.
As a Trifecta customer, I have found the app to be incredibly convenient and helpful. Not only can I place orders and track my nutrition and calorie intake from any location, but the app also features training videos and muscle-building tips. These resources make it easy for me to stay on track with my fitness goals, even when I'm on the go.
In my mind, it’s a handy, not to mention powerful, tool at the gym or during lunchtime at work.
In this sense, I see it as not only buying a bodybuilding meal delivery service; but I’m investing in an overall service providing food and educational resources. Pretty badass.
What’s on the Menu
Trifecta’s menu depends on the type of plan purchased. Most plans are curated by Trifecta and are labeled “Chef’s Choice” to differentiate between customizable plans.
Paleo Whole30 Approved Meal Plan: Chef’s Choice
Not sure what the Paleo diet is? This diet revolves around whole foods with lean meats, vegetables, no processed sugar, and low carbs.
Harmful chemicals such as MSG and saturated fats like Omega 6 are also excluded. The paleo diet is a perfect bodybuilding meal plan!
Meals in this plan include a western omelet and flat iron steak for breakfast, tangerine chicken and mixed vegetables for lunch, and a turkey burrito for dinner.
Paleo dieters are still able to enjoy a variety of food groups and styles, and Trifecta’s meal plan accommodates adventurous eaters who crave this variety.
If you are like me and get easily bored eating the same foods, you won’t be disappointed with the selection available.
The Clean Plan: Chef’s Choice
This plan delivers meals with ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible. This is their most popular meal plan, and it strips away fatty ingredients in favor of macronutrients, lower calories, and high nutritional value.
Unlike some of the other choices, this diet is not focused on eliminating particular foods or instilling specific diet habits like Paleo or Vegan; rather, this diet simply filters unhealthy ingredients out of meals to create light, energy-inducing, clean-tasting dishes.
Dishes I enjoyed in the clean diet were the Asian-style chicken with mushrooms and broccoli, cranberry and almond cinnamon oatmeal, and the Mediterranean-style beef patty.
Keto Diet Plan: Chef’s Choice
The Keto Diet is a revolutionary diet that promotes weight loss and triggers the body to burn fat as opposed to carbs for energy.
Bodybuilders and athletes looking to build muscle should avoid keto because its effects are counterproductive for muscle building, so cross this plan (and diet) off your list of possibilities.
Even so, this plan still offers high protein with 38 grams per meal and enticing meals for those with weight loss goals such as Argentinian chicken chimichurri, Panang chicken curry, and chicken bacon primavera.
Vegan: Chef’s Choice
Though I’m not vegan or vegetarian myself, I have bodybuilder friends who are. So, I was pleased to pass on the news that these two meal plans prove that even those with dietary restrictions can participate in high-protein diets!
Doing some research recently, I found that studies have proven that vegan and vegetarian athletes are capable of building as much muscle as meat eaters as long as they too gain the minimum protein intake of 30 grams.
Trifecta’s vegan and vegetarian meals average about 22 grams each, so I’d suggest you might have to add additional protein to your diet if you choose one of these plans.
However, athletes can still benefit from high-protein Trifecta dishes like cauliflower rice & bean bowl, black bean burrito bowl, and tomatillo chile verde.

2. MealPro
- Best Match For: Busy individuals looking for customizable pre-cooked meals made with fresh seasonal ingredients to support healthy nutrition.
- Commitment Level: One-time purchase; Recurring orders
- Availability: All 50 states and British Columbia
- Value: $8.99-$13.99/portion; Shipping fees based on your location
- Type: Fully prepared fresh meals (heat and eat)
MealPro is a service designed specifically for athletes to boost their metabolism and supply ample energy during exercise.
This service provides an eating plan designed specifically for intense workouts, which as a bodybuilder made this an ideal service for me.
Each meal contains at least 35 grams of protein and a total portion size of 22 oz., which meets the requirements to satisfy a bodybuilding diet.
With all-natural ingredients, I was guaranteed to feel powered up for an intense workout.
A standout quality of MealPro’s dishes is that they are designed by athletes and cooked by professional chefs.
Professional bodybuilder Corbin Russell personally works with MealPro chefs to collaborate on meals for other athletes that are both tasty and muscle mass inducing.
He keeps his intense workout in mind when consulting with chefs, and chefs adapt his regiment into the variety of cuisine types they offer on the menu.
Russell’s involvement with MealPro’s menu shows the company’s dedication to ensuring that their service is convenient and nutritious to athletes like myself that depend on fast delivery food.
Consulting with a professional bodybuilder shows that MealPro is up-to-date and ready to adapt to popular exercise routines practiced by athletes throughout the globe.
MealPro delivers bodybuilding food quickly within 1-3 days, and all foods can be heated up within 5 minutes. This makes it easy for me to enjoy convenient, high-quality meals even when I'm short on time.
Another perk of being a MealPro member is that I receive reward points, which adds an extra layer of value to the service.
As a recurring member I receive one point for every dollar I spend, which will eventually lead to free meals.
This is a great service for loyal members and will eventually save money with consistent use.
What’s on the Menu
MealPro does not set users on a fixed meal plan that restricts meal choice and variety – rather, users get to pick specifically what dishes they’ll eat and when. MealPro has an eclectic selection of food types, ranging from traditional chicken and vegetables to fried rice.
A big plus for me was that each dish specifically contains fresh ingredients that are locally sourced.
There is always at least 8 oz of lean protein and 10 oz of veggies per meal that make up the 35 oz portion size. I also appreciated that the simple seasoning and sauces are packaged on the side for convenience and mess-free eating.
MealPro’s meals also rotate on a seasonal basis, so if you order frequently and work your way through the menu you can guarantee that the site will offer a new selection within a few months.
One of the notable items on MealPro’s menu and a firm favorite of mine is the Fish and Chips. Rather than being fried like the traditional British dish, MealPro’s twist is grilled and seasoned with thyme and oregano and includes a sizable portion of potato wedges on the side. It might not be quite like the greasy pub favorite, but it’s far healthier and retains this signature dish’s essence. And I can confirm it’s absolutely delicious!
How It Works
By taking a closer look at MealPro food delivery, we can see that this bodybuilding meal prep company boasts an ordering system that’s effortless to use and navigate.
The website offers a full menu to choose from and you can select as many meals as you’d like.
All meals come in the same size for portion control and nutrient retention, so you simply just have to select an item, place it in your cart, and pick it up upon delivery.
Meals are delivered in eco-friendly coolers. This means that even if I’m not home when the delivery arrives, I can be confident that my meals will be safe and fresh no matter the weather. This is a great feature that sets MealPro apart from other meal delivery services.
Once I was ready to eat, meals can be heated up within 5 minutes to enjoy.
The packaging also allows for easy on-the-go eating: each meal comes in small recyclable and biodegradable packages that can be easily recycled wherever I am.
I also had the option to decide whether I would like to set up a recurring order.
This was a great time saver for me as I automatically received my dishes without constantly having to re-order.
Why It’s My Runner-Up
I found MealPro to be the most efficient service for bodybuilders with one of the fastest delivery.
The order system is convenient for those who either want to purchase in bulk or sample MealPro one meal at a time to gauge whether the service is right for them.
MealPro is a trustworthy site to order from because of its professional active involvement with the menu, reliable delivery, and tasty worldly cuisine.

3. Pete’s Paleo
- Best Match For: Anyone looking for delivery service with delicious ready-to-eat paleo meals made with seasonal produce and responsibly sourced proteins.
- Commitment Level: Subscription
- Availability: All 50 states
- Value: $15.04-$17/80/meal; Shipping fees apply
- Type: Fully prepared fresh meals (heat and eat)
What’s on the Menu
The rotating menu offered me endless interesting options such as chicken meatloaf with roasted mushrooms, herb duck, braised pork butt, and lamb kebab. Pete’s uses a variety of meat choices to keep the menu enticing, and he really expanded my taste buds.
How It Works
I was given the option to choose between two subscription plans: Pete’s Paleo and Pete’s Paleo Lite (which is the same as the former but with smaller portion sizes and a reduced price).
Once you’ve chosen a plan, you can choose between 5, 10, and 14 meals. I chose the latter as it most suited me as a bodybuilder due to my need to eat frequently.
I was also given the opportunity to choose whether I wanted extra sides, double protein, and pork. I could choose whether I’d like to order every week, or every two weeks, and if I wanted to I could cancel at any time.
If I placed my order on Monday I was guaranteed delivery by Friday and most of my orders included free shipping.
Why It Gets a Shout-Out
Pete’s Paleo is the ultimate eco-friendly option that is guaranteed to provide you with clean meals that strictly adhere to the paleo diet. The only downside I can report for this service is that it does not allow massive weekly orders, so if you prefer this service, you will have to order a lot; but in my opinion, it’s still a nutritious option.

4. Icon Meals
- Best Match For: People seeking an affordable food delivery service that allows them to create their custom meals or order in bulk.
- Commitment Level: No commitments - Order at any time
- Availability: The contiguous US (including some parts of Alaska and Hawaii)
- Value: $7-$13/meal; Free shipping for orders over $115
- Type: Fully prepared fresh meals (heat and eat), ready-to-eat snacks, and protein-packed coffee
Icon Meals believes that everyone should have the freedom to realize their workout potential and that everyone should have access to the foods that will get them there!
Learn more about their philosophy by reading our full Icon Meals review.
Icon Meals serves weekly food items to constantly keep their service fresh and exciting while completely catering to athletes dietary needs.
What’s on the Menu
Every week users can expect to see a plethora of new items and fan favorites to choose from – I got to try out BBQ Pork sliders, Hawaiian Kobe patty with green beans, chicken alfredo pasta, and chicken baked ziti. And I can’t fault any of them, though the sliders were especially good!
The company also serves unlikely protein-powered meals like their High Protein PB&J. This is one of my favorite snacks so I got to enjoy it guilt-free through Icon.
I have tried my fair share of protein pancakes, and Icon's chocolate s'mores pancakes are by far the best I have ever had.
If you're a fan of s'mores and protein-packed breakfasts, you have to try these pancakes.
One of Icon’s most amazing qualities is their custom meal service.
If I didn’t see anything to my liking on the weekly menu, I could easily order a completely customized meal on the website. I have options to pick my protein of choice, size, carb, and veggies. And I can order as many of these as they would like. This is a unique offering not provided by most services I’ve looked at that prefer to send their menu items in bulk.
How It Works
I had the option to order online or through the Icon Meals app.
In my case, the app offered the quickest menu access and I found it convenient for on-the-go ordering.
I could select a complete order on my phone that includes sides and custom orders.
In addition, I had the option to also choose whether I wanted to receive home delivery or pick it up at a drop-off location.
Why It’s on My List
Icon Meals is dedicated to providing meals for athletes that are fun yet nutritious.
I honestly think the high-protein PB&J is hard to beat, and the weekly menu changes keep the options eclectic.
I’d say the cheap bodybuilding meals are ideal, but those who like the bulk ordering system will prefer a service like MealPro (our number 1 choice, above).

PROS
Cons
5. ProTrain
Like MealPro, ProTrain focuses on providing athletes with enough nutritional value throughout their day with a variety of food style choices.
What makes them unique is their varied meal sizes and price plans, as well as additional features unique to their service.
With ProTrain, I can customize my meal order, but another neat feature is that I get the chance to consult with one of their team members about custom meal plans.
After contacting ProTrain through their website, I was put in contact with a ProTrain representative who helped me choose gym prepared meals that were right for my diet, budget, and workout.
ProTrain is also convenient for those who know their macronutrient requirements, which I noticed were listed in each meal description.
I only used the service that provides doorstep delivery, but they encourage users to continue ordering if they’re on a work trip, vacation, or at a second home. ProTrain will deliver to any location, even businesses, and hotels.
They also provide local pickup. As someone who is always on the go, this was really convenient. I just had to stop by the pickup hot spot to receive my food as opposed to running home or ordering my dishes early to make sure they arrived in time for a specific day.
What’s on the Menu
ProTrain offers a wide variety of meals like MealPro but with a greater quantity of choices. For example, ProTrain offers traditional wraps, Caesar salads, as well as grilled chicken, beef, and salmon. But even though everything I tried was tasty, not every offering included enough protein to satisfy my bodybuilding diet.
If you're an adventurous eater and enjoy raw fish, I recommend trying ProTrain's ahi tuna dishes. They offer ahi tuna over white rice and mushrooms, as well as the more minimal ahi tuna and cucumbers, which would make a great lunch choice.
I’d say, ProTrain bends the limits of an athletic power diet slightly more than MealPro. For example, some of their dishes are served with penne, such as the pesto shrimp. They even serve a breakfast platter with pancakes. However, these still technically satisfied my bodybuilder diet. The pancake platter includes 57 grams of protein at the 8oz level, which is almost double the recommended meal dose.
Although the bodybuilding diet restricts carbohydrates, ProTrain offers cookies and cream muffins. Although I restricted them to cheat days, they still serve 17 grams of protein, so they’ll always be better for me than a conventional fatty pastry.
How It Works
I found the step by step ordering process just as easy as MealPro – all I had to do was simply browse the menu, order online, and wait for delivery.
The only thing that was a bit more complicated for me was size order.
Unlike MealPro, it’s important to know which ProTrain size is going to give you the minimum dietary requirements for an efficient meal.
Once you’ve decided how many daily meals you’ll need (you can order between 2-4 meals a day), you’ll need to decide how much protein you’ll need in each, which is served between 4-8. As I’m on a bodybuilder diet, I choose 8 oz to reach my goals.
I was then asked to choose how long my meal plan would be.
I could conveniently place a single order as I was new to the site and curious to test the products. But I also could have opted to receive a 6-month order which would have been a lot less expensive for me.
This pricing plan is designed to help you distinguish how much you want to invest, but all the menus definitely complicate the process.
After you’ve decided on a price plan, you have the option to choose meals.
You can add as little as one item to your cart or spice up your order with several choices.
Why it's on My List
ProTrain offers the same quality of food and nutrient requirements as MealPro but offers various sizes to customers without such rigorous demands.
However, this service is unnecessary for bodybuilders, who should always be purchasing the size that contains at least 30 grams of protein. I’m of the opinion that MealPro’s bulking system and portion control are more convenient and definitely cheaper, but regardless, the ProTrain menu and convenient service will still satisfy customers.

6. Paleo Power Meals
- Best Match For: People looking for a weekly delivery of paleo meals with grass-fed, free-range, cage-free, and wild-caught proteins.
- Commitment Level: One-time order; Subscription
- Availability: All 50 states
- Value: $9.95-$29.95/meal; Free shipping and 5% off of orders over $75; 10% off of orders over $150; 15% off of orders over $250
- Type: Fully prepared fresh meals
Paleo Power Meals is another example of a meal delivery service operated by athletes and chefs.
A culinary chef and crossfitter started Paleo Power Meals to create a meal service that specifically speaks towards muscle-building athletes with a paleo consciousness.
PPM is a small, independently run business, which is very impressive considering that they’re competing with national large businesses.
Even as a smaller company, it’s still possible to receive nationwide shipping through their site, as PPM is just beginning to establish itself as a nationwide service.
What’s on the Menu
As a big fan of this diet I was glad to see that Paleo Power Meals always adhere to the strict rules of the paleo diet and therefore are always clean, free from gluten, and are without artificial ingredients.
All the food choices are meat-focused with vegetables and a light carb like sweet potato fries on the side.
PPM offers some exciting menu options like buffalo chicken strips, cayenne crusted pork tenderloin, and BBQ pulled chicken. My favorite dish was the sweet potato pancakes, which are deliciously thick and sautéed with applewood-smoked bacon.
How It Works
PPM delivers on Mondays to keep all clients on a traditional weekly schedule.
All orders must be placed by Thursday at 11:59 EST to ensure delivery by Monday.
New users must first register through the Paleo site and then are directed to the food order page.
PPM does not serve a meal plan system or bulk quality minimum – you just choose exactly how many meals you want!
Why It's on My List
Paleo Power Meals is perfect for those who are looking for paleo-conscious easy bodybuilding meals. The fact that they allowed me to order as many or as little individual dishes as I would like was a big thumbs up from me. For those who would rather buy in bulk and avoid constantly placing orders, you’ll prefer the bulk system of.

Real Talk: Are Bodybuilding Meals a Good Match for You?
Bodybuilding diets are intended for very specific people who intend to develop drastic muscle mass.
If you are a casual weightlifter, and even a non-athlete, a bodybuilding diet might be too intense.
Professional bodybuilders make a living off of their intense workouts and diet.
Their workday is planned according to these goals, and often those with busy workloads don’t have time for this kind of rigorous lifestyle.
Additionally, bodybuilding meals cannot be eaten alone and are expected to produce effects: the diet must match the work taking place in the gym, and if you’re not able to commit, you’ll find that the bodybuilding diet is not right for you.
However, bodybuilding diets are essential for professional bodybuilders and even some athletes in other sports.
This diet encourages muscle gain and is guaranteed to produce results for those that can commit.
A Deep Dive Into a Bodybuilding Diet and What to Consider Before Ordering Meals
A bodybuilding diet is specifically designed to help athletes gain intense muscle mass.
Bodybuilders can expect to eat an average of six meals a day, ranging from full meals to protein shakes.
A full meal represents several food groups with protein foods for bodybuilding of at least 30 grams.
The meal will usually consist of a lean protein like grilled chicken or fish, along with vegetables and a starch like potatoes or rice.
Foods are almost always steamed, broiled, or grilled, and rarely fried to cut down on excess fats.
A bodybuilding diet is often mistaken as eating a lot of calories. Non-professionals who attempt to take up bodybuilding diets might see weight gain instead of muscle increase.
A successful bodybuilding diet is not just about constantly eating protein – it’s supplying the body with constant energy that supports the intense workouts but in controlled and calculated amounts.
This includes reducing carbohydrates, hydrating, and planning meals according to exercise demands. Attempting to navigate a bodybuilding plan independently may result in dangerous habits such as overeating.
Great bodybuilding meal prep delivery services already know what portions and meal frequencies are appropriate for athletes and send their meals accordingly.
Though I’ve vetted the best meal delivery for bodybuilders, as you make your way through the reviews, above, I recommend that you keep the following things in mind as you consider your meals.
Make sure the bodybuilding meals you order online provide the following:
What Are the Benefits of Ordering a Bodybuilding Meal Delivery Service?
Ready to eat bodybuilding meals offer amazing benefits.
The first is perhaps the most obvious, which is that delivered meals are convenient.
If you’re not a cook or don’t enjoy spending time in the kitchen (that’s me in a nutshell!), you will benefit from delicious meals prepared by a company and directly delivered to your door.
With premade bodybuilding meals, you’ll spend less time in the kitchen and more time in the gym.
Then there’s the healthy and controlled diet because fixed portions are delivered.
You’re not expending energy worrying about over or under eating because these meal delivery services specifically customize meals to your goals.
With the growing popularity of fitness meals delivered, many companies now create prepared meals specifically for bodybuilders.
This will save you time and energy researching what to prepare each day. Instead, you can enjoy a meal prepared with ingredients that are geared toward your diet and muscle growth goals.
Read more about our top ready to eat meal delivery services.
The third benefit of bodybuilding meal prep services is the ability to customize a curated menu to your needs. This is a valuable feature for those of you who require bodybuilding meals that address any food allergies or if you’re vegetarian or need prediabetic meals while bodybuilding, and so forth and so on.
Finally, many of these meal delivery services, especially the ones that have landed a spot on my list, offer not only meals but also resources and a community to further fuel your goals.

Look, chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re either already a bodybuilder or looking to enter the world. You probably already know and appreciate that what you eat is just as important as what you pump in the gym.
